＜發行緣起＞佛光大學於2007學年度新設立佛教學系，將叢林學院作息及教育納入大學體系，培育佛教人才，設有學士班及碩士班。一群佛教學系的新鮮人，透過文字與照片將記錄學習與體驗之點滴編輯成版，讓大家共睹分享不一樣的學習。
The Department of Buddhist Studies was established in September 2007 in Fo Guang University, Taiwan. It is the first time in the history of Chinese Buddhism to nurture academic Buddhist professionals together with practical life education in a post-graduate institution.
We are proud to be the first batch of students and hope to share our everyday living and experiences through this e-newsletter. We record the wise words and many grand events on the front page whereas student's activities can be found on page 2. The Marvelous Mind and Pure Action contains articles related to our practical learning while the Spiritual Garden is a fertile ground for feelings.
This newsletter consists of three issues (December, March and June) which were posted earlier within our department as try-outs. With the encouragement of Dean Chou and support from our teachers and students, we are proud to present you the first electronic issue of "Fo Guang University - Department of Buddhist Studies Newsletter."
We cordially invite you to circulate it to friends and relatives freely. Suggestions and recommendations are very much welcome. May your life be filled with joy and compassion.
